Match of the Day: Wendi Richter vs. Leilani Kai at WWF War To Settle The Score

This bout featured two of the most underrated and unappreciated women in the history of professional wrestling in a classic bout from 1985. This little feud was apart of the big "Rock n' Wrestling Connection" movement which helped contribute to the World Wrestling Federation's earlier success, and this feud was a key to the success of the movement. This match took place before their encounter at the inaugural Wrestlemania event, the feud was actually the seed of the Rock n' Wrestling movement which is something that most people doesn't know.


Cyndi Larper asked Captain Lou Albano to appear as her father for her hit single "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" back in 1983, Larper was then booked with Albano as part of the Piper's Pit segment where Albano would insult Larper, Larper retaliated by striking Albano with her purse. Larper would eventually challenge Albano to get a female wrestler of his choice vs a female competitor of her choice at the "WWF Brawl To End It All" which would take place the following year on MTV. Albano choosed the reigning WWF Women's Champion The Fabulous Moolah and Larper choosed Wendi Richter.

This match gained MTV it's highest rating at that point in time as Wendi Richter went on to defeat The Fabulous Moolah ending her "28 year reign" which had been billed as the longest reign in wrestling history (Even though technically it wasn't even that long but OK :P). The feud would continue and The Fabulous Moolah would accompany her protege Leilani Kai to the ring while Larper accompany the woman who ended the reign of Moolah, Wendi Richter. That match took place at the "WWF War To Settle The Score" event in Madison Square Garden for the Women's Championship. This match was a high selling point of the event but the question for you guys is this, which one of these woman will walk out as champion? And what effect will Moolah and Larper have on this match?
